1. Q. The software can't be installed. How do I fix it?
    A.

Please download one of the following packages that include all required components:

http://www.printeradmin.com/download/PrintJobReport.exe (based on Net Framework 1.1 - 37 MB)

OR

http://www.printeradmin.com/download/PrintJobReport2.exe (based on Net Framework 2.0 and later - 65 MB)

2. Q. I get the database logon prompt when I  generate reports. How do I fix it?
A.

This issue happens on some computers. The registry keys for both Seagate Software (Crystal Report) and Microsoft, which specify the path to the Microsoft Access “System.mdw” file are not pointing to the same location. System.mdw is the Access security file that contains user level security information.

Please try the following:

Option 1:

1. Click "Select Database" to select the sample database "printSaver_Sample.mdb" that is located in the installation folder of Print Job Report  e.g. C:\Program Files\Reporting Tool\Print Job Report.

2. Click "Generate Report" and select a report from the dropdown list. If the report is generated correctly, then select the real database in the installation folder of PrinterAdmin Print Job Manager (e.g. C:\Program Files\PrinterAdmin Software\PrinterAdmin Print Job Manager).

Option 2:

If you have MS-Access 2007 installed on your computer, you can use it to open the database file e.g. C:\Program Files\PrinterAdmin Software\PrinterAdmin Print Job Manager\printsaver.mdb, then in Print Job Report, click "Select Database" and "Generate Report" to see if you can see the report.

Option 3:

1, Install Print Job Report on a different computer

2, Share the database folder from the computer where Print Job Manager is installed (e.g. C:\Program Files\PrinterAdmin Software\PrinterAdmin Print Job Manager).

3. Map the network share folder from the computer where Print Job Report is installed (e.g. \\Print Job Manager Computer Name \ Shared Database Folder).

4, Click "Select Database" in Print Job Report and connect to the shared database (e.g. \\Print Job Manager Computer Name \ Shared Database Folder \ printSaver.mdb).

Option 4:

1, Exit Printer Admin - Print Job Report if it is running.
2, Download http://www.PrinterAdmin.com/download/SYSDB32.EXE .
3, Double click “Sysdb32.exe” to run it. If there are no Seagate
Software keys visible in Sysdb32.exe window, click "OK" and launch
Sysdb32.exe again. Running this utility a second time will create the
Seagate Software registry keys. Please see the following screenshot.
4, Start Printer Admin - Print Job Report.

Option 5:

Download and install Microsoft Jet 4 Database Engine Service Pack 8 (SP8)

Windows 9x/NT http://www.PrinterAdmin.com/download/jet40sp8_9xnt.exe
Windows 2000 http://www.PrinterAdmin.com/download/Jet40sp8_windows2000.exe
Windows XP http://www.PrinterAdmin.com/download/Jet40sp8_windowsXP.exe
Windows 2003
http://www.PrinterAdmin.com/download/Jet40sp8_windows2003.exe

3. Q. How can I generate reports in a language other than English?
    A.

You can easily translate reports into your language by translating some strings in Printer Admin - Print Job Manager (or Printer Admin - Print Release Station) menu item "Preferences --> Print Jobs --> Translate". Please see the screenshot in Knowledge Base for more details.

4. Q. I get the error when I export report to excel format. How do I fix it?
    A.

1) Exit Print Job Report

2) Rename C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\1.0\Bin\ExportModeller.dll to ExportModeller.dll.old

3) Download ExportModeller.dll v9.1.1.528 from this link

    http://www.printeradmin.com/download/ExportModeller.dll

4) Copy this file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\1.0\Bin\ExportModeller.dll

5) Start Print Job Report.

If this doesn't work, then restart computer, then run Print Job Report.

5. Q. I get export.dll error message or I can't see the report when I select a report from dropdown list. How do I fix it?
    A.

1. If you get export.dll error message, please try the following:

Please define the system variable WINDIR as C:\Windows or C:\WINNT.

2. If you can't see the report, please click "refresh" button on Print Job Report.

6. Q. I can't see the report when I select a report from dropdown list. How do I fix it?
    A.

If you can't see the report, please click "refresh" button on Print Job Report. If you still can't see the report, please check if you select the right database or date range. For Windows Vista / Windows 7/ Windows 2008, the database may be located in the following folder: C:\Users\<your_account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\PrinterAdmin Software \ PrinterAdmin Print Job Manager.

7. Q. I get "FILEALREADYEXISTS" error. How do I fix it?
    A.

Please change the database location in Preferences --> Print Jobs of Printer Admin Print Job Manager. There may have some networking issues for the current database location.

8. Q. How can I customize the reports by myself?

A.

If you would like to customize the reports, you can use crystal report tool at the link:

http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx to do it. All 100 report templates are located in C:\Program Files\Reporting Tool\Print Job Report\report\*.rpt.

9. Q. I can't install .NET Framework 1.1 on Windows Vista. How do I fix it?
    A.

The error pops up in the end of .NET Framework 1.1 setup when it’s almost finished, and is registering “System.EnterpriseServices.dll” when the error occurs, time remaining for the installatin process shows 0 seconds.

.NET 1.1 Installation Error in Vista

The following workaround to fix the Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1. installation error on Vista is to slipstream .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 into .NET Framework 1.1 installer, so that both the .NET Framework and the service pack can be installed at the same time.

  1. Create a new folder named DotNet in C:\ drive (C:\DotNet is used in this guide, you can change to any folder you prefer, but ensure that you use correct path in the following steps).
  2. Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package (http://www.printeradmin.com/download/dotnetfx.exe). Make sure the setup file is saved as dotnetfx.exe.
  3. Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (http://www.printeradmin.com/download/dotnetfxsp1.exe).
  4. Move both installation files into the same directory (i.e. C:\DotNet), if you’re not saving them together.
  5. Open command prompt as Administrator.
  6. Change to the directory where the two installation setup files for .NET 1.1 are saved (i.e. C:\DotNet).
  7. Run the following commands one by one, press Enter after each one.

    dotnetfx.exe /c:"msiexec.exe /a netfx.msi TARGETDIR=C:\DotNet"

If you’re not using C:\DotNet directory, change the target to your path accordingly.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 on Windows Vista

Then click on “Yes” when prompted to answer “would you like to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. Package?”

Wait for the uncompression, extraction and setup to complete with the display of the following dialog which says installation complete.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 on Windows Vista

    dotnetfxsp1.exe /Xp:C:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp

No status message for this step.

    msiexec.exe /a c:\DotNet\netfx.msi /p c:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 on Windows Vista

Wait for Windows Installer for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 to finish and disappear automatically.

  8. Install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 with slipstreamed/integrated Service Pack 1 by running netfx.msi created in the working folder.
