What can printer management software Do For Your Educational Facility?
You’ve probably heard of printer management software. It may have seemed pretty dagone interesting—you just weren’t entirely sure what it was. Maybe it seemed extremely difficult and time consuming. After all, you can’t be bothered with something like that. You work with schools! You need something fast and effective that will keep both teachers and administrators alike happy.
A print quota is a set limit of pages that any given person is permitted to print per day, week, or possibly longer. That way everyone only receives a certain amount of papers. Ideally, since they only have a certain amount, this will stop the most wasteful of the staff from printing as much and throwing away what they don’t need. In the case it doesn’t make a difference, you can simply omit the print quota and just authorize each printing job that they send out. (Hopefully this will simply annoy them enough that they ask for their print quota back and won’t abuse it, but you never know.) However, if a teacher just needs one or two more worksheets for their class because one or two of the papers came out rather unreadable, then you can authorize that as well, with no change in their print quota.
And then there’s print tracking. This allows you to know what exactly is going on when it comes to the printers and “printees” in your facility. You know who printed how much at what time and from what computer they printed it from and where it was printed to. Pretty amazing, huh? You’ve all the W’s and the H, save for the why. This also gives you a pretty decent estimate of when your ink might need to be changed and when you might need to add more paper. All that you need to do is take a quick look-see at your print log and voila! All the information you want is right there in front of you.
